To save galvanised steel/galvalume sheets from rusting, they are painted. Aluminium foil is made by either continuously spinning and cold rolling sheet ingots cast from molten billet aluminium and then re-rolling on sheet and foil rolling mills to the desired thickness, or by continuously casting and cold rolling sheet ingots cast from molten billet aluminium and then re-rolling on sheet and foil rolling mills to the desired thickness. Beta radiation is transmitted through the foil to a sensor on the other side of the foil to ensure a steady thickness of aluminium foil processing. If the pressure is too high, the rollers change by thickening the material. When the intensities are too low and the foil is too dense, the rollers add more friction, allowing the foil to thin.
