What are aluminium roofing sheets?

Because of their lightweight yet durable structure and excellent anti-corrosion properties, aluminium roofing sheets are one of the most popular uses of larger panels.

Are your Aluminium Roofing Sheets available in various colours, like pre-painted GI/Galvalume?

To save galvanised steel/galvalume sheets from rusting, they are painted. Since aluminium is corrosion-resistant, it can survive even the harshest temperatures and therefore does not require painting. Color-coated Aluminium Roofing Sheets are, however, usable, according to minimum order quantities (MOQs) and RAL codes.

What are the advantages of aluminium roofing sheets?

Given below are some advantages of Aluminium Roofing Sheets:-

  • Rustproof: Aluminium roofing sheets provide a performance proven metal roof system and are effective in rough and varied environments as they are 100% rust proof.
  • High insulation: Aluminium sheets are highly reflective compared to other metal roofing sheets. This brings down the interior temperature.
  • Fireproof: Non-combustible & non-flammable and therefore a safe option for residential and industrial buildings.
  • Lightweight & durable: Lighter than galvanized steel roofing sheets and asbestos sheets.
  • Good resale value: Up to 55% of the original value in resale.
  • Life span: Aluminium Roofing Sheet has a life span of more than 40 years in comparison with 8-10 years of GI/ Asbestos cement sheets.

How is aluminium foil made?

Aluminium foil is made by either continuously spinning and cold rolling sheet ingots cast from molten billet aluminium and then re-rolling on sheet and foil rolling mills to the desired thickness, or by continuously casting and cold rolling sheet ingots cast from molten billet aluminium and then re-rolling on sheet and foil rolling mills to the desired thickness. Beta radiation is transmitted through the foil to a sensor on the other side of the foil to ensure a steady thickness of aluminium foil processing. If the pressure is too high, the rollers change by thickening the material. When the intensities are too low and the foil is too dense, the rollers add more friction, allowing the foil to thin.

Does aluminium foil conduct electricity?

Aluminium absorbs electricity by definition because it is a metal. Both bulk metals have a continuum/overlap of energy states (the conduction band and the valence band are not separated) that allows for unrestricted electron movement. Aluminium is the metal of choice to wire(bond) semiconductor chips and transistors since it is less expensive than Au&Ag, but Cu induces corrosion in the long run (aluminium forms a thin protective oxide layer instead).

Should a roof be insulated from the house walls so heat is not transferred?

Although the roof decking should not contact the walls, the attic should be insulated from the walls to prevent roof heat from transferring into the living spaces.

Is there any heat-insulating material available for metal roof sheets in Malaysia?

While there are many roof insulation products available in Malaysia, the best is EPS or expanded polystyrene (popularly known as Styrofoam or Thermocol). Here's why. Unlike PU foams or phenolic boards as suggested in other answers, EPS is very economical.
